If you have one of VIA EPIA mini-ITX motherboards, can you tell me
whether yours can boot from USB key drive? Booting from USB key drive
is main requirement I'm looking for.

I'm told that all VIA mini-ITX has BIOS option for USB boot, but some
models lie and simply don't boot.

EPIA-M: has 3 options for USB boot, HDD, FDD, and CDROM. I haven't tried
it, but I understand the key drive looks like a HDD. USB CDROM boot works
fine, FWIW.

Actually that is "partitioned", "superfloppy" and iso9660. All thhree
media are made bootable in a different way. The first two should
be possible with a memory-stick configured correctly. The third
requires 2k sectors.

I have a via M10k-Nehemiah, and I have installed 'feather' linux on a
256mb 'kanguru microdrive' USB flash disk. By setting the first boot
device to 'USB Zip drive' it boots up just fine.
